Nautical Table Decor!

I had a great shopping experience today that I just had to share it with all of you. Until today, I have been using my 30 year old Lenox wedding china for special occasions, which does not work with my nautical seashore decor. Today that has changed, as I finally found and  purchased the most beautiful dishes on One Kings Lane that will look wonderful on my dining room table. Without a doubt, these dinner and salad dishes will be my new special occasion dishes!

Although I will not receive this order for a week or two, I am already planning my first dinner party to “show off” my newest dishes and table decor! I will post again when my table is set and ready for my dinner guests, but until then I hope you have the chance to visit One Kings Lane’s special “Coastal Setting” sale, and are inspired by the nautical-coastal inspired tabletop as I was!

Happy Shopping!!!!!!

Something Extra!: Here’s some other pieces in the One Kings Lane collection that I just love!

Area Artist: Jamesport Candle

There is nothing I love more than finding a new product made in the area in which I live. Today, while shopping at Bauer’s Gift Shoppe on Love Lane in Mattituck, I came across some beautiful scented candles, made by a company called Jamesport Candle. Jamesport Candle is a mother/daughter team on the North Fork of Long Island.

I love everything about their delicious smelling candles. Each candle hand dipped with 100 percent American Soy Wax which emit little or no soot. They do not contain lead and are a renewable resource, unlike petroleum. Soybean wax is biodegradable and non-toxic. Also, these candles are made right here on The North Fork. They’re home grown and produced! Supporting our local craft and business people is a good thing!!!!!! If you are looking for a hostess gift, a birthday gift or even a treat for yourself, take a look at Jamesport Candle and know that your purchase helps in supporting the local economy!

Sea Inspired Table Settings

No matter what size dinner you are hosting, you can easily incorporate a nautical, coastal or sea life inspired theme into your table setting. From centerpieces, to dishes, to napkins, to serving-ware and glasses, there are so many ways to take your table from drab to fab. What’s great about a sea inspired theme, is that it’s timeless, and can be used at any sort of event from a backyard barbecue or clambake, to a formal sit down dinner. If you can’t be on the beach for dinner, you can definitely bring the beach to you!

Going to a florist and having a custom centerpiece made for you is always an option, but can be expensive, and require preordering. I like using natural elements around the table. One quick and easy centerpiece idea is to use glass vases and candles.

You can fill these vases with anything you have lying around. Think seashells, starfish, sand, driftwood, sisal rope, rocks, sea glass…use your imagination. You can also take existing glass or plastic vases and make DIY nautical rustic sisal rope centerpieces, as seen on the blog Ruffled.

Napkins are also a fun way to bring color and carry your theme through to the table. If your event is casual, go with a disposable printed napkin, if it’s more formal, go with a linen napkin. When it comes to dinnerware, I love dishes that are embellished with some sort of sea inspired them, without distracting from the food on the plate.

I’ve found that there is a wide variety of sea inspired plates and platters available right now. While some are ceramic, others are melanine, which is perfect for backyard barbecues. Here’s some table inspiration for you all, and links to some great accessories you will need to turn your dining table into a beautiful sea inspired gathering place for you , your family and friends! Knobs & Pulls

A fresh new look in your home is just a pull away! Finding the right hardware for a kitchen, vanity, drawers, cabinets and paneled appliances can be a a bit overwhelming. The selection of different styles, finishes, shapes and sizes can seem endless, but whatever your project is, there are knobs and pulls out there that will dress and complete your project.

When selecting hardware, I like to mix things up by selecting different pulls and knobs, but keep the finish of the hardware the same throughout the room. Having a diverse selection of hardware adds interest, texture, and is a great way to subtly accent the overall theme of your room. Be sure to consider functionality when you choose your hardware, but don’t be afraid to mix and match between knobs, pulls and handles.

Updating existing hardware is an affordable way to give your room or furniture a facelift.  Placement of the hardware, as well as size of hardware is important, so be sure to check dimensions before buying.

There are many companies I’ve worked with that carry a vast array of nautical and coastal hardware. Some of my favorites are East End Country Kitchens, Emtek, and Top Knobs.  I also highly recommend Blue Barnacles if you’re looking for unique coastal or nautical pulls. Here’s a few knobs from Blue Barnacles that I will definitely be working into future projects:
